Take these with a grain of salt. I believe Kerry was leading Bush up to the election. The electoral college matters more than an overall popularity poll.

A better indicator is http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/ , this site takes those polls state by state, and adds them up. Problem is there are so many toss up states, nothing is clear right now.

I think the economic crisis of the last week hurts mccain more than obama. Bad economic news always seems to help democrats. Especially with people thinking more emotionally lately than the usual. People will connect mccain with what's happened, because Bush is the president. Guilt by association.

I think Zogby is a better pollster than those on Real Politics.com.  Have you head it reported than no one in the last forty years has been as far up as Berry O and lost?

I think people better be prepared for the real possibility that we may have Democrat governed Senate and House with Berry O at the top.

The sad fact is that the majority of Americans have divided that they want socialism as long as it doesn't interfere with their 40 acres of the world.

I will tell you one thing, McCain needs someone to help him get some better lines.  The "congeniality" thing and continually talking about his past is not serving him well.  People do not want to hear about his past, as tragically interesting as it is.  People want to know what McCain can do for their future.

Palin needs to be a bit quicker on her feet to.  For instance, when the reported asked her opinion about the "Bush Doctrine" she should have just said, is doesn't matter to her because she will not be Bush's VP and then go into whatever her and McCain are going to do.

...and during the debate, McCain kept talking about drilling off shore.  What happened to drilling in the Rockies, and South Dakota?  What about building refineries here in the U.S?

Further, McCain could have separated himself from bush concerning Bush's freeze on short selling shares of the 39 largest financial institutions stock to protect their assets.  Bush didn't give a rip about protecting we smaller investors assets.  Shorting has been killing out stocks while Cox has been sitting on his thumbs.  McCain could have said that under his administration that all of us will enjoy the same protection from short selling and naked short selling (selling counterfeit stocks) under the law.  Short selling stocks is the A.I.D.s of our financial markets and has been responsible for much of these problems with the Banks and other financial institutions.  Most of these Banks have have been major participants in shorting stocks, to include each others stocks.  The sub-prime might have weakened these institutions, but the insidious effect of shorting stocks has taken away their, and thousands of other companies', immunity to financial illnesses like the sub-prime.  When these companies have a problem, not only don't they have the financial immunity (worth) to combat the problem, but market manipulating market makers pile on with massive short selling and drive their victims out of business.  there are tens of thousands of investors who would vote for McCain if he promised to eliminate all short selling.

...and why were Fanny and Freddy allowed to operate as they did?  Why are Mortgage companies and credit card companies allowed to levy loan shark rates.

There is a lot than McCain could do to help himself here.

In 2004, while his actual polling was right on the money, his ElectionDay prediction failed to materialize. Before polls had even closed inthe 2004 presidential election, Zogby predicted a comfortable win for John Kerry (311 electoral votes, versus 213 for Bush, with 14 too close to call), saying that "Bush had this election lost a long time ago,"adding that voters wanted a change and would vote for "any candidatewho was not Bush." While admitting that he was mistaken, Zogby did notadmit any possible flaws in his polling methods, insisting that hispredictions were all within the margin of error.

OK I have no argument with you there, but I think the Zogster is going all out on this one because of the massive fluctuation between the other pollsters and some other unfolding events like the bailout.    It will be a real feather in his cap if he gets this one right and the others get it wrong.  Also, I think most of these polls are driven by the political views of the guy in charge of them.  I don't think that Zogby allows his personal view to interfere with objective polling.  However, I do hope that Zogby does have this poll wrong because I have Zero interest in seeing Berry O in the White House.

I listened to Hal Lindsey last night - very interesting -

He says that the government now owns 2/3 of the houses in the US now and possibly yours is in that mix - he said we never dreamed how slick the government could take over - we are in the first wave of socialism - now with the government holding the title to your homes - what if they wanted to distribute wealth a little more easily - this would make it much easier - a little ways down the road but never thought of it like that.

Just praying that Obama does not get in - that is all we can do - God is still in control - the things that are predicted in the Bible must come true and someone has to do it - so I think this bailout thing is just the beginning.
