I am reminded of the parable of the Son that left His father, and wanted his
inheritance now. And spent it all on riotous living. He just wasn't
mature enough and lacked accountability, to handle it. The temptation was too great, lacking maturity that he would have gained by staying with his father.  It just wasn't Gods perfect timing, even though
He was willing to give it.
The scripture that stood out to me was:
Luk 15:17And when he
came
to
himself,
he said,

Gods grace extends to us all, and if we lack maturity, and have not grown
in how to be responsible, then these things can happen.. He's just waiting for us to "come to ourselves.".
It doesn't mean that you have fallen from His grace.

So Yes we do need to pray for them, with the understanding that their still a brother or sister.
Be as loving as the Truth allows, even if it's
mis-interpreted,
because everyone  you meet is fighting
some kind of battle.
