Yay!

Two weeks now without a drop of alchohol and no painkillers. Go Jesus!

Since I was 20 (I'm now 42) I've been taking about 20-30 painkillers every single day (addiction) plus for the last 5 years been drunk and hungover about 4 days a week. When I was drinking I'd typically have between 1 and 3 bottles of scotch at a time plus 80-100 painkillers to get out of my head. (Now you know where the ranting posts came from!)

I still have a bottle of Bud in the fridge - I think I will just let the damn thing sit there for sheer stubborness.

Havent managed to stop smoking yet (I get very bad withdrawals) but I think I need to give it another couple of weeks to let my body get used to the big changes already.

I give all the glory to God for this.

Yeah!!!!! I know you feel better and just look at the money you are saving. You will see a big difference in your life and see how productive you really are.  God has a mission for you and you will have a wonderful testimoney. Very proud of you.

This is awesome Dave.  And you are definitely a much more pleasant and coherent thinking person without these things.  ;) I am proud of you, too.

That's fantastic! Praise God and good going you! As for the ciggies, well, you can't do it all at once.

FWIW, when I started on the diabetic/weight loss diet, someone sent me a mega sized box of Thornton's chocolates! The very day I discovered I was diabetic, would you believe! But with great strength of mind, I chucked them in the back of the cupboard under the stairs and there they've been ever since! I actually manage to forget about them for long periods of time and then something happens to jog my memory. But I have no urge to open them (once they're opened, I'm lost!). So far so good!

Hope it continues thus for you.

I have seen several older alcoholics when their livers give out...it ain't pretty.

They feel like dirt and yet they still are trying to come in and work while yellow in color.

Dude...you don't even want to go out that way.
I wanna die like grandpa, peacefully and in his sleep. Not like the passengers in his car...they were all screaming and panicking.

Well thank God I'm now 16 days without alcohol or painkillers - even the thought of a Jack Daniels (my poison) would make me sick ! :)
