Title: What is a OCR program?
Post by: Wordsmith on December 03, 2008, 06:34:11 pm
o.k. after my delimma finally being solved about getting the court
records back, I decided to pick up some blank court papers with
their logo's on them, and type them up from the rough forms that
I received back. I was going to try to scan these new blank court documents to
my computer so I can type on them..Nada,,it says that I need a OCR
program for me to be able to do this. I noticed that they are pretty
expensive to purchase. Does anybody know if there any good free
ones online that actually work?

OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition.  It's a technology in which the words are recognized when scanned, and converted to text,

Unfortunately, I don't know of any program that will do this for free, and even the pay programs don't always work that well.

My scanner has OCR and it was mega cheap - about £30. Never tried it, tho but!
